Back to Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu  Smart Relationships

Learning how to write a positive comment

Learn: Identify opportunities to focus learners on how to respond positively to what has been shared on the blog.

Some preparation required for the following activities in response to your learners.

  1. Begin with a shared conversation - on the class big screen and/or with their device learners can demonstrate the following:

  • navigate to their class blog

  • locate the recent comments gadget

  • locate any new comments on a blog

  • locate the comments link and recognise how many comments a post has.

  • identify who wrote the comment

  • locate the link to their Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu team blogs

  • locate and read a published comment on their device

  • locate the individual blog feed on the class blog and can connect as above.

This is a useful warm up activity at the beginning of a lesson while learners are retrieving devices and getting set up e.g.

"When you are online check the class blog to see if we have any new comments."

2. Plan for opportunities to connect your learners with positive vocabulary in meaningful contexts. Select in response to your learners' context.

Positive Comments

Open slide deck to view speaker notes or copy docs to reuse.

Create: Build a blog comment for a blog post from your Tuhi mai tuhi atu Team.

Chromebook

Learners make a copy of the Google Draw and use the fridge magnets to build a positive comment in response to a post from your Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu Team.

  • Encourage learners to reference the word banks/printable cards if helpful.

  • Model with your learners on your big screen.

iPad

  • Recommendations for how you might use this slide are in the slide notes.

  • Select blog posts, that resonate with your learners to respond to.

  • Model with your learners on your big screen.

Step It Up:

  • Learners record themselves reading their comments.

  • Upload recording as a video file to Google Drive
